Sunday 30th April we arrived early at Olympia in London for a showcase performance of a few acoustic versions of songs from our current album.
The hall was quietly buzzing from all corners and spaces in-between with sounds of Shamanic percussion, Indian music and chants, and excited glitter faced soul searchers. With almost 200 stalls offering treatments, wellbeing products and spiritual guidance, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
As we made our way across the hall, through the delightful fragrances and smiling yoga enhanced stall holders we reached the main stage where Tim Wheater and Cherub welcomed everyone with an opening meditational music session.
In keeping with the tone of the show the rows of seats in front of the main stage were open on all sides so that any interested audience members could come and go as they pleased, whilst the musicians, speakers and dancers graced the stage.
Although the prospect of performing in front of a new audience was exciting, the natural but prickly question arose in our minds, would people stay for our performance?
We were relatively unknown in comparison to the established and respected artists like Anne Malone and Tim Wheater in this sector so expecting a big reaction with new songs is a big ask, and being British we just hoped that people would at least stay and save us from any embarrassment.
Leading up to our time the audience closed their eyes and drifted away to the haunting voice of Alexandra Gabriel and swayed to the spectacle of Melissa and her belly dancers.
Then before you could say “Namaste”, Ann Malone finished her last chant and it was ‘Show Time’ for us. I am glad to say our performance was very well received with a full audience who listened, applauded, smiled and stayed until the very last note.
Thankfully, we left feeling happy with our efforts, grateful for the lovely people at the show and our dignity intact.
Thank you to all at the Wellbeing Show, Olympia, hope to see you again soon.
